I’m going to let you in on a little secret…one of the best parts of being a photographer is getting to witness important milestones for families and then being able to document these moments for them to look back on. A first birthday is definitely one of those special milestones, and deserves to be documented.
Read MoreI didn’t think I could love photographing newborns anymore than I already did, but then I became a mom and had my own little guy, and newborn sessions have become that much more special to me. As a photographer, I’ve always had that innate desire to capture and document moments, but now that drive is even stronger.
Read MoreOh this sweet family! When I think back to my first session with the M family, I remember how cold it was and how Declan was just a little baby snuggling up to his mom trying to keep warm on the beach that day. Four years later and Declan still loves to snuggle his mom.
Read MoreI’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, I love photographing newborns. There is just something so special about meeting a new soul and capturing all the teeny tiny details for a family to look back on; I always feel so incredibly grateful every single time I am trusted with this task.
Read MoreSooo, I feel like I blinked and bam, fall is here! Especially with the colder temperatures this week, I could really feel the new season sinking in. But hey, I can’t complain because we had a relatively warm September and October here in Maine, which made all my fall sessions so amazing.
Read MoreFamily photography does not have to be boring. It does not have to be matching outfits (unless that is your thing!) and stiff poses. It doesn’t have to look like what everyone else’s family photos look like. Every family is different, and every session is therefore different. I am dedicated to creating images for my families that are uniquely them; I want the photos to feel and reflect who a family really is in whatever season of life they are in at the time we are making the images.
Read MoreI am obsessed with this breezy beach family session! I first met the “O” Family last December to photograph their sweet baby DJ for his Fresh 48 Hospital Session when he was just one day old, and I was so excited when Kristin reached out to schedule a beach session for this fall.
Read MoreAs I’m sitting down to write this post, I’ve come to realize that I have been to the beach quite a lot this season for sessions, and I am not sad about it. There have been so many nights when I’ve come home and had to rinse the sand from my feet with the hose on the side of the house and for some odd reason, that makes me happy. I mean, was it really summer if you didn’t get your feet covered in sand and spend some solid time at the beach?
Read MoreFamily photography is my jam. It really is. Someone recently asked me what I liked to photograph, and even though a part of me was trying to come up with a cool response to that question, deep in my soul I knew the answer was families. And guess what? Family photography is cool!
Read MoreWhen I say I love photographing families, I really do mean it! Every time I get the chance to hang out with a family to tell their story, I feel deeply honored that I am trusted with capturing these types of moments.
Read MoreToday’s blog features the adorable “M” family and their sweet baby boy who has the biggest, most expressive blue eyes you will ever see! I first met this crew when Julian was just 24 hours old, when I photographed his in hospital Fresh 48 session back in March, and I love that we had another session planned for later in the summer to capture how much he has grown since then!

Read MoreI am so excited to share this sweet session on the blog today! This had originally been booked as a Fresh 48 hospital session, which as many of you know, is my absolute favorite type of session to photograph, and unfortunately due to the pandemic, had to be postponed.
Read MoreOne of my favorite things about living in Maine is that there are always new places to explore, even when you go back to locations you’ve been before and think you’ve seen it all. I’ve been to Owls Head Lighthouse quite a few times and I remember there being an amazing beach around the backside of the lighthouse if you follow a wooded trail for a bit; the views are breathtaking and totally worth the 5-10 minute walk to get there.
Read MoreSummer family sessions have my heart, for real. Even more so if they are seaside sessions and we can wander along lush green trails, scope out a secret beach, dig our toes in the sand, and feel the sea breeze on our skin. When Michelle and Joel suggested Kettle Cove for their family session, I was pumped!
Read MoreAnytime I get asked to photograph an extended family session, I feel extremely grateful to be trusted with capturing such special relationships and memories. This particular one was even more special in that the occasion for the session was to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the McCarthy son's parents, who are clearly still smitten with each other!
Read MoreWhat is it that they always say about the weather in New England? If you don't like it, wait five minutes? That quote never felt more true than the evening of this beach session. When I left Portland to head to Ferry Beach in Scarborough, the sun was shining and it was a glorious summer day. The minute I crossed over the Scarborough line, poof!
Read MoreIf you've been following me for a little while now, you know that maternity sessions are often dream sessions for me. Not only do I get to document a very special time in a woman's life, but these types of sessions allow me to really explore my creativity.
Read MoreHere is a little known fact about me, but I didn’t grow up in Maine. I moved here in 2004 when I was in college, and after spending my first year living only 20 minutes from some pretty amazing beaches, I decided never to leave, despite that extremely cold and snowy winter. Summertime is my favorite season and I usually try to make as many days “beach days” as I can possibly can.
